Learning Korean Language

February 3, 2008

I’ve had an experience with teaching English to Korean students, but their language seems to also catch my attention.

Before, I used to learn some Korean words from my students.  Some are the very common expressions that they use.  Some of the things I’ve learned are the bad words of the Korean language…hehehe Excuse me on this one.  It’s fun though.  Some of my students even teach me.  Several times, I felt inspired to take it seriously because they would often tell me that I  have a very good pronunciation of their language.  I never thought I could get those comments from them…hahaha…And so, one of my students promised to give me a Korean book as a present.  They’re really encouraging me to continue learning…and of course, to learn more.  When I received the Korean book, I started reading it and now, I can actually read Hangeul (the Korean alphabets).  I had a lot of fun learning on my own!  Thank God the book was so easy to understand that even beginners, like me, can learn a lot just using the book.  The book’s title is "Korean Made Easy: for Beginners".  I truly recommend this book to those interested to learn the Korean language.  Now, I can slowly read, though, understanding the words is another thing I have to study.  I’ve also memorized some words and their meanings.

Learning something new is really wonderful.  This process also made me realize that I should always challenge myself to learn something new.  New things that will eventually make me a better person.  Learning is a process.  It never stops…And there’s always a new challenge we can try to overcome.  Happy learning!!!
